01. Phase 1 (Year 1)

Launching 100+ herbal cosmetics on WordPress & WooCommerce

Dr. Aqsa’s (Absolute Herbal Beauty) formulates and sells over 100 natural skincare soaps, face tightening packs, serums, salon lipo-soluble wax tubs, and professional facial kits. To bring their beauty catalog online, I first designed and built their D2C store on WordPress and WooCommerce.

The Year 1 WooCommerce storefront used a warm terracotta-orange (#d95f18) and deep navy (#121d33) palette, organizing single retail soaps alongside multi-size salon wax tins and 6-step facial kits.

02. Phase 2 (After 1 Year)

Migrating & redesigning the store on Shopify

After running on WooCommerce for a full year and crossing 1,080+ online orders, the client wanted managed cloud hosting, faster mobile quick-add buttons, and dedicated range merchandising.

I migrated and redesigned the store on Shopify (live at draqsas.com), introducing a soft lavender-white (#eff0f5) and royal-navy (#0e1b4d) aesthetic, a dedicated Our Kalonji Range showcase, and one-tap Add to cart drawers.

Design evolution: Phase 1 (WooCommerce) vs Phase 2 (Shopify)

Moving from WooCommerce to Shopify after Year 1 gave us the opportunity to simplify the visual hierarchy for mobile beauty shoppers while keeping every best-selling SKU intact:

What changed in the Phase 2 Shopify design (live at draqsas.com)

The live Shopify storefront refines how repeat skincare buyers discover new formulas and check out on mobile:

  • Navy & Soft Lavender-White Color System: Shifted from the heavy terracotta WooCommerce styling to a clean clinical skincare palette (#eff0f5 background with #0e1b4d typography and #4770db action buttons) so product packaging stands out clearly.
  • 5-Slide Benefit Hero Banners: Created new hero banners (led by the brush-applicator Vitamin-C Foaming Face Wash) calling out specific skin benefits right on the slide.
  • Dedicated “Our Kalonji Range” & Herbal Soap Grids: Grouped high-demand black-seed formulas (Herbal Kalonji Fairness Soap, Kalonji Herbal Moisturizing Cream, Herbal Kalonji Soap, and Kalonji Bleach Cream) into their own horizontal collection row.
  • Visual Category Cards for Skin Care, Hair Care & Facial Kits: Added three large editorial category blocks linking directly to filtered Shopify collections.

What we built in Phase 1 (Original WooCommerce architecture)

Before migrating to Shopify, our Year 1 WooCommerce build gave Dr. Aqsa’s a rich storytelling homepage designed to convert first-time beauty visitors:

  • 5 Rounded Category Tiles Above the Fold: Instant visual routing into Body, Face, Hair, Makeup, and Kits and Giftpacks right below the Face Tightening Pack hero banner.
  • Verified Customer Review Counts on Product Cards: Displayed star ratings and review counts (such as 1,210 customer reviews on Herbal Miss Goree Soap and 607 customer reviews on Herbal Milk Soap) directly inside the catalog grid.
  • Live Milestone Counters & Featured Product Slider: A dark navy split banner highlighting 1,080+ Orders Delivered and 100+ Products paired with an interactive B-Care Cold Cream showcase.
  • Multi-Weight Salon Wax & Facial Kit Pricing: Configured variable WooCommerce pricing for salon-grade Lipo Soluble Wax Creams (Chocolate, Aloevera, White Chocolate) and multi-step Diamond, Fruit, and Radiant Gold facial kits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did Dr. Aqsa's start on WooCommerce and migrate to Shopify after one year? +
WooCommerce allowed Dr. Aqsa's to launch over 100 herbal soaps, serums, salon wax tubs, and facial kits with flexible custom layouts in Year 1. After crossing 1,080+ orders and validating online demand, the client preferred Shopify's managed cloud hosting and streamlined mobile checkout, so I migrated and redesigned the store on Shopify.
Did Swapnil Patil (Swap Design) build both the WooCommerce and Shopify versions of draqsas.com? +
Yes. I designed and developed the original Year 1 WooCommerce storefront (preserved in the 1920 × 11675 px archive on this page) and later built the redesigned Phase 2 Shopify store currently live at draqsas.com.
How do you organize a beauty catalog that sells both single soaps and salon-size kits? +
Skincare buyers shop by both concern and routine. In Phase 1, we used 5 top-level visual category tiles and asymmetrical combo grids. In Phase 2 on Shopify, we streamlined discovery into Best Selling formulas, a dedicated Kalonji Range, an 8-soap comparison grid, and visual cards for Skin Care, Hair Care, and Facial Kits.
How much does a custom WooCommerce or Shopify beauty store cost? +
Custom WooCommerce and Shopify e-commerce stores start at $500 depending on SKU count, variant rules, and platform migration requirements. Promotional landing pages start at $200, and monthly care plans start at $120, billed in $ via Wire Transfer or PayPal.
